PGF scrunched bias tape

I'm on a house cleaning mission BUT everyday I have promised to spend some of the time creating something for my shop opening in July. Yesterday, it was my version of scrunched bias tape and seam binding. I had purchased a bunch at a estate sale months ago. I knew I would have a use for it! I know it's a hot item right now and I knew mine would have to be a little different. So here it is...

Vintage bias tape and seam binding, scrunched just right to the perfect shabbiness! Of course, I couldn't stop there. I then embossed, yes embossed, to give it a texture of shimmer. It's little grungy, a little shabby and a little sparkly...all at the same time!

A PINCUSHION DESIGN CONTEST! YAY!

I came across a pincushion design contest over at the Arrow Sewing Cabinets' blog. (http://blog.arrowcabinets.com/2011/04/no-tomatoes-pincushion-contest.html)
BTW: I LOVE their Olivia cabinet!
I figured I would whip up a sample of a vision I have for a pincushion. I would like to offer this in my store when it opens in July.

Drum role please.....
Presenting "THE ROYAL PINCUSHION"!

I used some vintage gold lace, an off-white velvet fabric to die for and "topped" it off with a gold button and a vintage rhinestone on top! It's my first sample and I may have to tweak it a bit but it looks pretty close to what I envisioned! I hope people like it!

I'm also part of the blog hop for this contest.
You may have hopped over my way from the Kluless blog http://katherineuhrig.blogspot.com/
NOW you should hop on over to A Patchwork World http://apatchworkworld.blogspot.com/2011/05/terribletutorial-tuesday-tin-can.html for the next blog in the hop to see a wonderful design!

Keep it fancy and carry on!

Flower headbands for Sophia and Mia

Tomorrow is dance class and Sophia and Mia will be sporting these headbands I made them! :)

Tote and Dahlia

Beach Ready!
I love tote bags so I decided to create a fancy one!
However, it's not an easy pattern to write because it's made with pre-quilted fabric and no liner.
I didn't want to lose any quilt design on it.

I never did "blend in".....LOL

So it seems that the aprons at the Where Women Cook Launch were more on the simple side then mine. Understatement. All the aprons in the pictures look very nice and the winning ones are beautiful! The fancy farm girl's blog (http://www.thefancyfarmgirl.com) today has a picture of someone, I think it may be the fancy farm girl herself, holding my apron up to her. Nick was there and took the picture for me. It seems they received hundreds of aprons! WOW! Good for them!! Looks like a success! :)

P.S. The girl with the pink hair doesn't seem to blend either. I love it! She looks awesome!!
